Argyro Karymbaka was born on 8 July 1929 in Patras, Greece. She studied sculpture at the Athens School of Fine Arts - ASFA (1953-1957), under Michael Tombros. At the same time, in these years, she learned the art of pottery in the studio of potter Yannis Delavinias in Maroussi and architectural design in the workshop of Pavlos Patrinos. The work of Argyro is anthropocentric with faith in the communication of the artwork to man. The materials she uses in sculpture are clay, cement, plaster, stone, marble, wood, copper and bronze sheet. She created drawings for books of poet Yannis Negrepontis (1930-1991) and collaborated with him in her exhibition on the theme of Women at Nees Morphes Gallery, where she presented his poems from the Feminist series set to music. She also created designs for textiles transferred to embroidery by her sister Maria Olympiou, exibited at Maroudas School, and published in a book. She also contributed in many productions by Finos Film, Athens.
