CM: Upon the ACG Art Curator's request, Jackie Battenfield wrote: "Dear Megakles, I'm delighted that a work of mine is entering your collection. This work is from a series of paintings on paper and aluminum. The metal works were cut into the stiletto shape. It is the first series of painting/sculptures I made when I moved to New York City in 1978, and began a two year process of slowly moving from installation and 3 dimensional work to painting. In Double Ore I was interested in activating the rectangular space of the paper with two shapes. I wanted to create an energy field between them and retain a sense of movement, as if they were precariously balanced in space. Working with these forms on paper afforded me the opportunity to pose these sculptural forms (I still thought of them as sculptures) without fear of gravity. Jackie Battenfield"
