CARL BÖHRINGER Portrait #2 of Ambassador George Levides after Charles Bergamasco ca. 1900 [R/V] - x +
BoeC1900lev2

CN: BoeC1900lev2

MT: graphite on silver print on paper within original frame (50x40 / F:67x77x2)

DN: Ms. Lydia Vassiliades - 2006

CM: This Portrait of Ambassador George D. Levides (1857-1933) is an appropriation by Carl Böhringer of an 1890 original photograph by Charles Bergamasco <BerC1890levi>. This print is a great enlargement of the original albumen print. The photographer took the liberty to improve the decoration by raising the contrast of all medallions, adding a third medallion on the vest and a cross on the collar, while pushing the lot further down.
