CM: The Regent of Ethiopia Ras Tafari visited Greece in 1924. This official group portrait was taken by Geo Boucas in the Reception Hall of the Royal Palace in Athens in 1924. The picture includes His Highness Ras Tafari (1892-1975) in the center, Archbishop of Athens and All Greece Chryssostomos I (1868-1938) on his right, Admiral Pavlos Kountouriotis (1855-1935) on his left, and the Admiral's Adiutant Gerassimos V. Vassiliades (1888-1966) standing at his side. It is worth noting that the Archbishop was born Chyssostomos Papadopoulos at Madytos of Eastern Thrace. He was an enlightened man having studied at the Hieratical School of Constantinople, the School of the True Cross in Jerusalem, the Evangelical School of Smyrna, and the Theological Schools of Athens, Petrograd and Kiev. He was ordained first Archbishop of Athens in 1923.
