Giorgos Divaris was born on 25 June 1956 in São Paulo, Brazil. He studied urban planning at Vincennes University - Paris VIII (1975-1976), under professor Anatole Kopp. He then studied graphic design at Vakalo School of Art & Design, Athens (1981-1984). Subsequiently, he enrolled at the Athens School of Fine Arts - ASFA (1984-1989) to study painting in the workshop of Nikos Kessanlis. He attended the postgraduate course in Philosophy and Art at the Department of Philosophy, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (1994-1995).
Giorgos Divaris has worked in the following capacities: Assistant Instructor of Graphic Design at Vakalo School of Art & Design, Athens (1986-1990); Tutor of Drawing at the Department of Visual & Applied Arts, School of Fine Arts, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (1990-1998); and Assistant Professor of Painting at the Department of Visual & Applied Arts, School of Fine Arts, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (1998-present).
