CM:Inspiration is a kinetic portrait developed from Mathematical Mind of the same year. This latter work evokes the brain and consists of copper wire linking blue stones representing mathematical propositions. Inspiration uses wire and found marble to infer activity in the brain within a portrait. The sculpture is made of a single piece of wire and is self-supporting. It emanates from the neck, progressing to the ear, then the nose, via a cheek to the eye, crossing the brow and receding into the brain. At its end the wire coils around a glass marble, and the swirling vanishes within. Though this artwork is so suggestive of a portrait, it is highly stylized to the point that it is genderless and ageless. The artist included only those facial features which were absolutely vital to the evocation of thought. The whole head rests on a single line and it balances very delicately on its axis. Even the slightest perturbation stimulates the portrait's immediate reactions, which are infinitely varied.
