CM: Costas Evangelatos' Costas Est is a study of the Torso Gaddi in the Uffizi Gallery, Florence. Despite its spontaneity, the execution is based on the feel of the torso's motion. The drawing is in dialogue with the body's movement. The hues of color fluctuate constantly. The blue is dominant as a color suggestive of the spiritualization of matter. Costas Est suggests that the body originates from matter and proceeds towards its spiritualization.
