SOPHIA FOTIADOU (Greece, Volos b. 1961 / act: Almyros)

Sophia Fotiadou Sophia Fotiadou was born on 23 October 1961 in Volos of Magnesia, Greece. She graduated from the Economic School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (1979-1983) and the Pedagogical Department of Pre-school Education of the University of Thessaloniki (1984-1985). Parallel to her studies she was preoccupied with art history and painting. Subsequently she took summer courses at Slade School of Fine Arts in London (2005), followed by courses in portraiture and painting at Saint Martin's College of Art and Design (2005). The following people have reviewed her work: Mr Dimitris Delligiannis (Art History Professor at the University of Thessalia); Ms Faye Tzanetoulakou (Art Historian); Ms Chryssa Drandaki (Sociologist of Art) and Ms Athina Shina (Art Historian and Professor at the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens).

Sophia Fotiadou presented the following personal exhibitions: The Naxos Town Cultural Organization, Naxos Island (2003); Magical Form of Nature, Spirer Gallery, Volos (2004); Spring Symphony on Canvas, Emphasis Gallery, Thessaloniki (2005); Painting, Almyros Town Hall, Magnesia (2006); Traces of Colored Dreams, Diana Gallery - Down Town, Athens (2007); Traces of Colored Dreams Part II, Giorgio de Chirico Art Center, Volos (2008); Soul Portrait, Yeni Çami, Thessaloniki (2009); and Age of Innocence, Art Zone 42 Gallery, Athens (2010). She also took part in the following group exhibitions:Giorgio de Chirico Art Center, Volos (2001); Spire, Melina Merkouri Cultural Centre of Athens (2005); Smart Art, Municipal Gallery, Lamia (2005); The Pleasure of Art, Municipal Theatre, Lamia (2006); The Age of Innocence, Spilioti Projects, Athens (2006); Erotica Part II, Spilioti Projects, Athens (2007); De Natura - East & West, ArTower Gallery, Athens (2007); b'n'alle, Spilioti Projects, Athens (2007); Erotica XXX, Spilioti Projects, Athens (2008); Ichnos II, Giorgio de Chirico Art Center, Volos (2008); De Natura, ArTower Gallery, Athens (2008); and International Art Cultural Forum, ArTower Gallery, Athens (2008).

Artworks by Sophia Fotiadou are kept at the following institutions: The American College of Greece; Hatzigiannis Foundation of Larisa; Municipal Art Gallery of Thessaloniki; Municipal Art Gallery of Volos; Society for Macedonian Studies of Thessaloniki; and Vorres Museum.

Sophia Fotiadou currently lives and works in Almyros of Magnesia.
