CM: This picture of Lincoln College originated in "Original Views of Oxford, its Colleges, Chapels and Gardens" published by Thomas Boyes, London, in 1843. This series comprised etchings engraved by William Gauci after original drawings by William Delamotte (1775-1863). Unfortunately not much is known about Gauci. Delamotte, however, was a draughtsman on wood and watercolourist. He entered the Royal Academy Schools in 1794 and trained under Benjamin West.
