CM: Ghika writes: "Far away, in distant Colchis, Medea waits, pale and wan with love. She swoons at her first sight of Jason silhouetted against the light from outside, as he enters the darkened room where she awaits him in fear; fear because - even though she is a sorceress - she does not know how the affair will end." [Georgakopoulos 1984, p.9]. On the reverse of this medallion, Ghika inscribed the names "Medea / Jason" and set between them the scene of Medea riding on the dragon's back in the aftermath of her crime, holding a knife and a flaming torch.
