CM: It is a documented fact that from 1942 onwards Grammatopoulos engraved portraits of contemporary Greek novelists and poets for the Nea Estia magazine, such as Miltiadis Malakasis (#374), Antonis Travlantonis (#386), and Kostis Palamas (#397). The portrait of the emminent Greek author Pandelis Prevelakis was the subject of many Greek artists, such as Yannis Moralis, Fotis Kontoglou, and Kostas Grammatopoulos. ACG Art keeps the two original prints by Grammatopoulos, both of which are signed with pencil by the hand of Prevelakis. The first portrait of Prevelakis is a wood engraving that Grammatopoulos made in 1975. The present portrait of Prevelakis is a lithograph that Grammtopoulos made in 1976. The prototypes of both portraits remain the property of the Prevelakis family in Athens.
