CM:Friends is a photograph from a series that resulted from Mark Hadjipateras' excursions around Greece with an aim to explore new themes in photography. On the occasion of Friends Hadjipateras was at Kavouri of Attica, where he encountered a little boy playing along with his huge German Sheppherd dog. At this sight Hadjipateras pondered on the beauty of man in nature and of man / animal relationships. This photograph became the source for his painting entitled A Dog Needs a Home of 1983, which - at second thought - is more about human beings than it is about dogs. Friends was included in the exhibition entitled Animals at Ericson Gallery of New York in 1982.
