CM: Upon the ACG Art Curator's enquiry, Gerald Horn responded as follows: "So interesting to see this drawing again. It is still with me, could have done it this morning in some fashion. A description of personal space. A geometric relationship, as though the Ionian Greek philosopher Pythagoras was guiding my hand. Overriding all the drawings and paintings from that time relate to the Pythagorean musical sequence. Pythagoras number series 4 : 6 : 8 : 9 : 12 : 16 is often associated with the greater perfect system and the theory of proportion [Rudolf Wittkower, Architectural Principles in the Age of Humanism, 1949 The Warburg Institute, London]. The intervals between members of this series give the tuning for the fixed intervals of the tetrachords of the greater perfect system. My drawings and paintings are visual thoughts and conversations. Just did some iPad drawings that are a companion to the drawing you have."
