This work of Angeliki Korkou belongs to a long series entitled Penetrate
. The artist claims that "from Penetrate
originates the inner order of chaos". Korkou paints according to a peculiar method on the surface of water. First she places the blank paper on the surface of the water or inside it. Then she pours ink diluted with white-spirit onto the surface of the water. Rather than using a brush, she uses the liquidity of the water itself to organize the composition and to produce the desired effect. The effect of her art is arrived at not by chance, but by an absolute manipulation of materials and techniques through long painstaking experience. The gradations of color endow her work with the illusion of motion. Korkou says: "I have attempted to record the moment, which is unique and unrepeatable". The Penetrate
series was exhibited at Asian Fusion Gallery in New York in 2004.
