Stathis Lagoudakis was born on 18 June 1959 in Athens, Greece. He received art education as follows: Foundation Diploma at the Wimbledon School of Art, London (1981); BA in Fine Arts at the Central School of Art & Design, London (1984); and MFA in Time Arts at the Art Institute of Chicago (1987). In 1987 he was awarded the Edward L.Ryerson traveling fellowship for the School of the Art Institute of Chicago - SAIC, Chicago. He was commissioned to produce a large sight specific commission for Club Hotel, London.
