Liana Lemona was born in Athens in 1952. She studied painting and decoration at the Women's Christian Association of Athens and worked as a decorator in London.
In producing art Lemona basically furthers the surrealist tradition of photographic collages. She picks illustrations from magazines, and cuts them out to compose them on her picture depending on their subject and formal qualities; color and shape. Once she arrives at the general composition Lemona often decides to paint over select areas of her collage. The final result of her work is a picture standing between photography and painting. Her works are characterised by a dreaming mood and imagination.
Liana Lemona has presented the following personal exhibitions: Dada Gallery, Athens (1991); Maria Papadopoulou Gallery, Athens (1993), and Kivotos, Hydra Island (1996). She has also taken part in the following group exhibitions: Municipal Cultural Center, Zografos (1992); Municipal Gallery of Athens (1993); and Pantazidis Art Gallery, Athens (1997).
