Vasiliki Matta was born on 11 February 1979 in Thessaloniki, Greece. She graduated from the 9th High School Thessaloniki in 1995. In 1996 she attended courses of academic painting in Thessaloniki. In 1997 was admitted at the École Supérieure d'Art et Design de Saint-Etienne - ESADSE and earned the National Diploma in Plastic Arts - DNAP (2000) and the Higher National Diploma in Visual Expression - DNSEP (2002). In 2003 submitted her postgraduate thesis entitled "The Place of Abstract Painting in Contemporary Art: Prompt or Outcome?".

Vasiliki Matta continues to live and work in Thessaloniki.
