CM: The present picture represents the interior of the New Stock Exchange on Bartholomew Lane, London, with figures in its center. This is an original hand-colored steel etching engraved by Henry Melville (fl.1826-1844) from an original study by Sir John Gilbert R.A. (1817-1897), possibly an illustration from "London Interiors: A Grand National Exhibition", published between 1841-1844.
