CM:Nicolas is Anna Mihailidou's achievement in the third year of her studies at the Athens School of Fine Arts in 2003, when the artist began to find her personal artistic expression. Until then Mihailidou created works on the basis of observation from nature. From now onwards the basic concern of the artist is the function of composition in two-dimensional space. She is concerned with the equlibrium of harmony and disharmony in relation to space. In the portrait of Nicolas Mihailidou is interested in the absolute quality of the pose in perfect profile. She treats line as a shape and seeks to strengthen her design with an economy of lines. The drawing of the shirt serves to tie the two-color scheme of the background. Finally, the pink grid pattern on the shirt's sleeve is not employed as a decorative solution, but rather activates the composition, while endowing the entire space with balance and harmony.
