Eleni Mylonas was born on 14 September 1944 in Athens, Greece. She graduated from the University of Geneva, Switzerland in 1966. In 1967 she received an M.S. from the Graduate School of Journalism of Columbia University in New York and in 1972 she received a B.A. in Photography from the Polytechnic of Central London. She later studied digital imaging at the New School Computer Center in New York (1994) and painting at The New York Studio School (1995).
Mylonas has been honored with the following awards: Fulbright Grant (1966); Helen Lee Lassen Fellowship, Columbia University (1967); and Catharwood Foundation Travel Grant (1967-1968).
Mylonas established a studio in New York City in 1978 and worked on several projects exhibited both in NY and in Europe. She taught special projects in photography at The New School/Parsons School for Design and has lectured on her work at several teaching institutions including the State University of New York/Albany, Nikon House, the School of Visual Arts in NY and The New York Studio School's Artist Lecture Series. Her work is part of several Museums and numerous public and private collections.
