CM: Zeus was the king of the gods, the god of sky and weather, law, order and fate. He was depicted as a regal man, mature with sturdy figure and dark beard. His usual attributes were a lightning bolt, royal sceptre and eagle. The Olympic hymn to Zeus reads as follows: "I will praise Zeus, the highest and greatest of the gods / the omnivident, the omnipotent, the effective god, who along with Themis / lying beside him exchanges wise words. / Have mercy omnivident son of Cronus, glorious and almighty."
