CN: PetG1995sail

MT: mixed media: iron, wood and leather (54x44x17)

DN: Mr. George Petalas - 2005

CM: George Petalas' Sailboat is made from heavy industrial equipment that, despite their weight, endow it with the feeling of travel in the realm of fantasy. The main components are four ploughshares, originating from a tractor, which had become worn from heavy use. Petalas had noticed their bright appearance, their white-silver patina, and their curved shape. Cut at various heights, placed upright on an old wooden base, and linked with leather strings, they evoke the abstract form of sails on a sail. In this new arrangement, the blades are transformed into full sails, mimicking the travel of a sail at some imaginary sea.
