Maya-Maria Remoundi was born on 31 May 1960 in Athens, Greece. She attended courses at Pierre College and completed her studies at the I.M. Panayotopoulos School in 1978. She studied painting at Petras Art Schools in Athens (1978-1979) under the supervision of Antonis Apergis. She continued her studies at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris (1980-1984) painting and sculpture by Olivier Debré. In the peridodo 1983-1986 she also studied history of art at the Sorbonne with Renault d'Allone at the Université Vincennes / Saint-Denis with Gilles Deleuze. In 1993 she returned to Greece.

She also took part in the following group exhibitions: Hellenic American Union, Athens (1978); New Greek Painting, Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris, Paris (1982); Galeria Municipale, Venice (1982); Galerie Maison des Beaux-Arts, Paris (1983); Greek Painters in Paris, Municipal Gallery, Rhodes (1985); Collective Video Event, École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts, Paris (1986); 6th International Biennial, Skironio Museum, Athens (1987); Zygos Gallery, Washington DC (1988); Pierides Gallery, Athens (1989); Kouros Gallery, New York (1994); 8th International Biennale of Sculpture, Skironio Museum, Athens (1996); Terracotta Art Gallery, Thessaloniki (1996); Metopi Gallery, Athens (1997); Pantazidis Art Center, Athens (1997).
Maya-Maria Remoundi passed away suddenly on 15 March 2001.
