George Samaras was born on 9 February 1969 in Athens, Greece. His involvement in the visual arts began from a young age, especially as he was unfailingly receiving awards at school painting and construction competitions. His first serious artistic attempts began when in 1990 he acquired his first photographic camera at Rotterdam of Holland, where he lived for two years. He studied at workshops in Athens focusing on hairdressing, photography, drawing, decoration and the theater. In 1999 began his trademark series entitled 'SamarasShoesArt', using old shoes as raw material. Aside of the visual arts, Samaras is involved with the decoration of spaces, putting into effect artistic recycling and utilizing found or everyday materials. His hobbies include dance and music, and he has often works as a DJ.
George Samaras presented the following personal exhibitions: Astrolavos Gallery, Athens (2000); Hellenic Shoe Fair, Mediterranean Exhibition Center - MEC, Peania, Attiki (2001 & 2002); and Hellenic Children's Museum, Plaka, Athens (2003). He also took part in the following group exhibitions: Silent Dialogues: Multimedia Portraits Throughout Time, ACG Art Gallery, The American College of Greece, Athens (2008).
George Samaras is a member of the Chamber of Fine Arts of Greece - EETE. He continues to live and work in Athens.
