CM: Yiorgos Tserionis' series of engravings entitled Extreme Weather Conditions present a woman, whose form is lost in visual ambiguity caused by fog. Taking meteorological weather as pretext, the phenomena of the title refer to difficult situations that we are to face in our lives. And if the weather in nature is something beyond human control, let alone the psychological ordeals people go through. The human entity is only apparently free willed. In fact the tragedy of life is staged regardless of man. The female figure is surrounded by symbols in the form of souvenirs, which in some way give us the stamina and the courage to tackle extreme situations. For this series Tserionis preferred a bluish palette to play with the idea of an immaterial background. The color retains its transparency, in order to highlight some 'other' levels that exist in our lives, beyond the level of everyday living.
