CN: VouA1965dige

MT: felt pen on paper (30x45)

CM: The Akritic folksong Digenis Akritas laments the death of Digenis where Charon "has taken hold of Digenis' heart, he has entrapped his soul" (Zafiropoulos, 52). Charon (death) in Greek folklore appears to be strong, fearless, undefeated, with human faults and weaknesses. He is jealous of the strong and the brave young man who has the guts to confront him. But Charon uses treacherous, cunning methods and fights knowing before hand that he is always the winner.
