CM: This issue of Max Becker's "Baukunde des Ingenieurs", published in 1865 by Carl Macken Verlagsbuchhandlung in Stuttgart, kept in its pages all of the surviving four-hundred-twenty-two drawings by Nikos Velmos in the ACG Art Collection. In order for the drawings to be unstuck from the pages of this book, many of its pages had to be detached and destroyed. Therefore, after the removal of the drawings, Max Becker's book was no longer presentable or worth preserving. Some photographs survive, which show what the book looked like before initiating the restoration of Velmos' drawings in January 2007. According to Nikos Logothetis, it is likely that the drawings were glued onto this book's pages by the sisters of Velmos anytime after his death in 1930. It was this book that donor Takis Efstathiou was presented with by Ariadne Velmos in 1970.
