Jessica Wohlers was born in 1980 in Freehold, New Jersey, but spent much of her adolescence in Florida. Jessica studied the visual arts first in Miami, Florida, and then at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia, where she earned her BFA in painting and printmaking.
Wohler's art is a hyper-realistic depiction of seemingly mundane urban landscapes. Through her lush treatment of surface and manipulation of an almost impossible color palette, the roadside vistas are transformed into something reminiscent of the Hudson School painters. Wohler's current series explores the blurring of man in contemporary nature, with power-lines and tree limbs becoming indiscernible. Her art has been displayed on the east coast since 2001, and has travelled to New York and Europe.
Jessica Wohlers is currently living and working in Manhattan, New York.
