CM: Yannis Ziogas' Planet: White Steps is part of the series Diary of a Cultural Refugee, which began in 2005. This work presents the miniature of a white planet with a long series of steps attached on its side capitulating at a red point. The entire system rotates horizontally on the axis of the planet's center, thus intending to makes its beholders realize that they too are also centers in relation to the world. Ziogas admits: "All my works are about non-realized and cancelled utopias". The red point where the steps lead to is the potential position where an invisible orator would address an invisible public. The Planet: White Steps was part of Ziogas' presentation at Visual Panorama in Greece curated by Thanassis Moutsopoulos at the Greek State Museum of Contemporary Art of Thessaloniki in 2006. This work was presented by the artist to Megakles Rogakos on the occasion of the latter's birthday on 23 December 2006, and he in turn thought it useful to donate it to the ACG Art Collection.
