CM: The regular Portrait of Hélene Levides (1896-1983) is interesting for its dark quality and balanced composition, which dares to combine the sitter's dark hair and dress against a dark background. The bust of the sitter in full profile gives away her particular silhouette, while the eyes focusing straight ahead display her character's quiet composure, becoming her love for literature and languages. The inscription on this photograph seems to suggest a dedication from the sitter to her father, Alecos, on 29 September 1926.
