CM: Though small in dimensions, the Portrait of Greek Lady of about 1930 is one of Zographos' finest examples of painted photography. On this portrait Zographos has applied all his artistic mastery and creative experience. The face of the sitter in a three-quarter's view appears to tilt forward with its eyes focusing straight ahead in a manner that is at the same time pensive and libidinous. The bright parts of the skin and the background share the same value of tone, and endow the photograph with a perfect sense of harmony. The highlights of the light-colored transparent garment that reveals the lady's bust have been touched meticulously with white pencil.
