CM: The National Archaeological Committee describes the present work as follows: "12. Deep black-figure kylix of the Early Classical period (480-450 BC). On either side of the space between the handles amid two palmettes appears a pair of combatants of whom one bears a shield and a helmet (right) bends the knees before the other, who is bearded and wears a short tunic and reacts aggressively. The empty spaces are filled with branches." The description is confirmed by Professor of Classical Archaeology Lila Marangou.
