CM: The present coin is an Aspron Trachy minted by Manuel I Comnenus (1143-1180). The obverse presents Christ, seated facing on backless throne, wearing nimbus cruciger, pallium and colobium, holding Gospels with left hand, double border. The reverse presents the Virgin, nimbate, standing facing on right, wearing pallium and maphorium, crowning with right hand emperor standing facing on left, wearing divitision and loros, three beads on collar, three beads on chest, five beads on belt, three beads on stola, labarum in right hand, globus cruciger in left. The material is billon, an alloy of silver and mercury and was minted in the period 1167-1183.
