CM: This Street Scene photograph is eloquent of late 19th century urban life. One may appreciate the way products and servixes were advertised at those times. It is possible to discern a queue of people at the entrance of Maison Sautille. Two stories above this entrance is an advertisement for the 'Journal de l'Agriculture', and further to the left one can make out a rental opportunity. On the left side of the picture is a forest of signs for various services. Right underneath them cross one another two ladies both of which are dressed entirely in black, doubtless in mourning. At the far left passes a layman who is entirely ignorant of or indifferent to the lens. It is also worth noticing the traffic of carriages in the street.
