Funded in 1976 by the United States Agency for International Development - USAID, Deree Gym was dedicated by President John S. Bailey in 1980. Designed according to modern specifications and beautifully landscaped, it is one of the most outstanding buildings of its type in Greece. It is built in two levels covering 2,915m² including Cross-Court gym (basketball, volleyball, indoor soccer, badminton), Fitness Center (Cybex recumbent bikes, Life Fitness treadmills, Precor cross trainers, 500kg free weights, Cybex Eagle Selectorized Machines, advanced audiovisual system, Cycling Room (Life Fitness spin bikes), two Fitness Studios, Climbing wall and a Recreational Lounge (pool, table soccer, table tennis, staellite TV). It seats approximately 2,500 people. It conveniently accommodates orientation ceremonies, large examinations, extra-curricular activities and community events. It is used to house the Deree commencement ceremonies. It is also available to house concerts international sports festivals, etc.
